The Intro to Children Life

Life is an interesting journey. The voyage is like a learning curve that gets steeper as one explores the phases to it. One is oblivious of the fact whether which segment of time may make or break one’s expedition. Yet the base line remains the same saying every peal of time shapes, defines and refines the journey to its penultimate purpose.

It takes 36 months of gestation for a human to avatar onto this orb. He enters the first phase to the tour of life – Baby. The age range defined to this phase is 0-1 years. When a new born is introduced to life he begins with a serious anxiety of exploring his senses and begins adapting to the ambience. This phase marks the commencement of the phenomena called identification. The young one easily identifies the mother and showcases displeasure if any unfamiliar person comes in between. Milicent Washburn Shinn one of the first women to earn a Ph.D from University of California in baby psychology refers the sixth month as ‘The Dawn of Intelligence’ in one of her works, ‘The biography of a Baby’. This is evident through various activities viz. toe sucking. He starts flexing his muscles and tries using it to the fullest. The observation stint too begins in this phase when the baby begins noticing the ceiling fan and the flickering tube light as it glows. The way he tries to fix objects of miscellaneous shapes marks the other arenas of intelligence. The exploration to the baby’s senses reaches its pinnacle and he enters the next phase toddling all the way, the toddler stage.
