Hair Rebonding Treatment for Teenage Girls

Hairs are the most important element that defines your beauty. It is the dream of every girl specially teenagers to have soft, smooth and silky hair. Hair rebonding is a process that will help all the kinks, curly, wavy, and misplaced hair to go smooth and silky. Hair Rebonding is a modern approach to get smooth, stylish and silky hairs and it works for teenagers also. You will go through three processes and it can take up to about 3-4 hours because each stage will be about an hour each and it also depends on the work pace of your stylist.

The process for hair rebonding goes through three stages:

Step 1: Softening the bonds with a chemical cream.
Protein solution is applied to protect against the harsh effects of the cream. The cream contains sodium hydroxide to react with the sulphur bonds in the hairs to disassociate the bonds.

Step 2: Establishing the straightness with a hair iron.
After the cream has softened the hair, it is shampooed and rinsed, followed by blow dry and a hair iron. The stylist will straighten hair by section making sure to not miss any hair.

Step 3: Neutralizing the chemical effect with another cream.
The hair will then be allowed to cool off and the neutralizing cream is applied which is to lower the pH level of the hair as well as to allow it to breathe. In other words, this will work as a protective treatment.

After all these process and the chemical has set in for about 15-20 minutes, the stylist will wash and dry the hair again followed by a hair iron. Once it’s been straightened, you will get a little trim to neaten the hair and also to allow your hair to grow.
Each steps should take about an hour to allow the chemicals to take effect and stick to the hair.

With such long process Hair Rebonding comes with some pros and cons also.

Pros with rebonding are:
• Smooth and silky hair,
• Saves time when heading out,
• Has a very natural look to it; almost like a virgin hair,
• And can last up to a year.

Cons with rebonding are:
• The cost is very crazy especially if you choose a salon that charger per hair inch,
• If you do hair rebond with a hair that’s been colored before or you do rebonding with a hair that’s been recently dyed, you will have unpleasant result such as stiff hair, burned looking hair, and hair that easily fall out, and unpleasant smell.

You can expect different outcome with this process depending on your hair before the treatment. If you had a healthy hair prior to rebonding, most likely the results will be great. You should have a very straight and smooth hair with no problems opposed to having unhealthy hair to begin with and doing the process. If you so, the outcome will not seem natural. Your hair will look dull for about a month to three months. This is due to damage hair or having recently coloring the hair. It is suggested that you do hair rebond at least 6 months after hair dyes because the chemicals will go against each other and won’t allow the hair rebond chemicals to work well and will damage the hair even more. If you are one of those people, expect a few chunks of hair to fall off easily after showers even with tons of conditioner used. Hair will also look like a cheap wig and appear very flat.

Necessary Six Days Care
After rebonding hair, your stylist will give you instructions that you must follow for five days.
To maintain the glossiness and straightness form of your hair, you must not wash hair for three days to allow the chemical process to stabilize.
Second, do not clip your hair, tie it up, or tuck behind ears, this will give your hair creases and leaving you with a crimped look and it will be permanent through out the period the hair rebond is in effect. If you must, you can use a cotton headband to push away front hair and nothing more. Also, do not use any hair products such as leave in conditioner, hair spray, and avoid the use of hair iron.
On the fourth day will you will be able to wash hair only with conditioner. You will feel refreshed for that day since you haven’t washed your hair for 3 days and with all those chemicals three days before, it will leave your hair oily. Pat and let it air dry, comb through the hair with a wide tooth brush to avoid hair fall outs and damages since your hair is still fragile at the moment.
One the fifth day, repeat the same process as day four. To be on the safe side, to make sure that your hair has finally settled with the chemicals, add an extra day meaning on the sixth day, you can then wash hair are you normally do but still keeping in mind to use a wide tooth brush.

After the six days care process, you should still take precautions to not tie up hair and to avoid using hair products and iron. Allow another week before you can start styling hair and when using direct heat tools, always use heat protection such as chi, dove etc. since your hair could be prone to damages.
